Citadel Erbil, Erbil's City Center and Activity Hub

The Citadel is the hub of Erbil's rich civilization that dates back to as far as 6000 BC.

Here are a few shots off our digi cam.

Man Of Steel Stands Tall and Proud at Iraqi Cinema Royal Mall Erbil

Royal Mall, Erbil houses one of the most famous cinemas in the city. The Iraqi Cinema is quite popular with youngsters and have a huge crowd coming in every weekend. This month, it showcased a cool Superman figure as part of movie promotion for the movie Man Of Steel

This attracted many people's attentions whether it was youngsters or kids, or even the elders. People loved clicking photos in front of this huge Superman figure. Unfortunately, I could not convince my husband to pose for a shot but I got a photo for you guys anyway.

Enjoy! ;)

PJ Pizza, Erbil is Iraq's Version of Papa Johns Pizza

Can you imagine my happiness when I found PJ Pizza and that it was in fact, Erbil's version of the famous Papa Johns Pizza!

They have the same menu, the same interior design and the same great taste of the traditional Papa Johns pizza. This is surely a treat for pizza lovers.

I ordered my favorite Chicken Ranch pizza. They have all the typical Papa Johns sauces so you can be sure not to miss out on any of their great tastes at all. I ordered ranch sauce and garlic sauce to go with this one.

The place houses together 3 famous chains side by side namely, Costa Rica, PJ Pizza and Burger Queen, with PJ Pizza situated in between the two. They have a lovely lawn in the front which is a nice place to sit and enjoy your pizza if the weather allows. All in all, its a treat for the taste buds as well as for a peaceful chit chat.

India Gate, the New Indian Restaurant in Erbil

With businesses opening and people from around the world are pouring in, Erbil is filled by different cuisines day by day. If you are an Indian looking for homelike food or simply someone who has heard of Indian food and its rich taste, then India Gate is the place for you.

After being dead bored of burgers and steaks in our early days in Erbil, a friend mentioned this restaurant to us. Surely, we had dinner there the very same night.

To be honest, India Gate doesn't have a large menu and not too many options to choose from, but if what you're looking for is something homelike to eat, then you will find their menu quite adequate. The first time we visited, we ordered daal with chicken karai. This is what we ate the second time around; sabzi karai and daal tarka. I have to tell you, after all those days of eating fast food, this food tasted divine!

Weekend Night Shopping At Family Mall, Erbil

One of the new things to enjoy in developing Erbil is the variety of shopping malls that are now available. Family Mall, Erbil is one the most famous shopping havens in the city, located at a very prominent location on the 100M ring road. The mall shines with lighting in a jewel like dome with people coming in endlessly on any night, whether it is a weekend night or not.

Family Mall contains modern shopping chains like Carrefour, Home Istanbul, Digital City etc with new and famous brands like Red Tag opening soon. It houses Empire Cinemas, currently the largest cinema in Erbil with a total of 15 screens. Other than that, Family Mall contains a large food court that mainly has Turkish food brands. You must try Turkish foods at least once. They have a lot of variety.

All in all, if you happen to be in Erbil, you must see this mall whether there's something to shop or not because it is a good place for recreation and outing. You will get a glimpse of modern Erbil rising.
